Eazy-E is known as the Godfather of Gangster Rap. He brought you N.W.A., which in turn introduced the world to Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. Before his death, Eazy-E put out the legendary Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Unfortunately, Eazy-E would pass away in March of 1995 due to complications of the AIDS virus. Later in 1995, Ruthless Records released the Eternal E project, which was a greatest hits record. In 1996, the family would release his second and final studio album. Str8 off tha Streetz of Muthaphukkin Compton was the album and it turns 30 years old. Gerrick D. Kennedy, who published a book about N.W.A. and Gangsta Rap said the album was completed with DJ Yella’s assistance. The album was unfinished at the time of Wright’s death and was cobbled together using leftover records. It was rumored that Eazy-E was working on a double album titled Temporary Insanity.
Just Tah Let U Know was the first and only official single released from the album. It was one of Eazy-E’s last recorded tracks before his death. Just Tah Let U Know peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart. The music video was released in 1995 and was done after Wright’s death. The video showed footage and pictures of Eazy-E. There were cameo appearances by MC Ren, DJ Yella, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Too Short and many others. The album wasn’t anything special, but it went gold by selling over 500,000 copies.
