Silkk the Shocker My World, My Way Turns 25 Years Old

Silkk the Shocker first hit the scene in the mid-90s as part of No Limit Records. Silkk appeared on many projects like the Ice Cream Man and Down South Hustlers before releasing a solo project. In 1996, Silkk dropped his debut album called The Shocker. The Shocker achieved some success, and as a result, he changed his name to Silkk the Shocker. About a year and a half later, he released his second album called Charge It 2 Da Game. Charge It 2 da Game debuted at #3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album sold well over a million copies, like damn near every release from No Limit during this time. Charge It 2 Da Game is one of the 27 albums I’ve named from No Limit Records that should be in your collection.

Less than a year later, Silkk the Shocker released Made Man, which was his third album. Silkk joined DMX as the only rappers to go platinum with two albums within a year. The album features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Mýa, Jay-Z, and Master P. Made Man was a solid effort, but nowhere near as good as the Charge It 2 Da Game album. My World, My Way which is the fourth album from Silkk the Shocker, dropped a couple of years later. During this time, the decline of No Limit Records was happening unfortunately. My World, My Way turns 25 years old today, and it wasn’t a bad album. He Did

That was the first single from the album, and it featured Mac, and it was a good single. He Did That peaked at number 50 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop and number 3 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles. Pop Lockin was the second single, and it was never officially released, but it was another great record on the album. Pop Lockin featured Snoop Dogg & Goldie Loc from the Eastsidaz. The third song that became a single was That’s Cool and it featured Trina. That’s Cool was never an official single, but was accompanied by a video. The video got a lot of plays of video shows back in the day. As mentioned before, this was a nice project, but it wasn’t his best. Below are my top 5 tracks from the album. After that, peep the track listing and stream link for the My World, My Way album.
