Jaheim emerged as one of the newest R&B singers at the start of the 2000s. He’s known for his classic hit, Put That Woman First but that appeared on his second album, Still Ghetto. Ghetto Love was his first album, and it turns 25 years old today. Jaheim had a distinctive voice and that separated him from pretty much any other R&B singer during that time. Being someone who followed Motown, his voice was a throwback to that era. Ghetto Love went on to sell over a million records and put him in the forefront of singers. Ghetto Love was accompanied with 3 good singles. Could It Be, Just in Case and Anything featuring R&B group Next. The other major feature for Ghetto Love besides Next was from Lil’ Mo. Could it Be was the first single and it was a very smooth track and one of the highlights.
Just in Case was the second single off the Ghetto Love album. Just in Case is one of my favorite tracks from the album. The fast-paced track is one of his signature tracks in his resume. The record was included in his greatest hits project called Classic Jaheim, Vol. 1. Anything was the third and final single from the Ghetto Love project. Anything featured R&B group Next, and this is probably my favorite record from the album. During this time, Next were one of the best groups out and this collaboration was perfect. Ghetto Love is a great album and one that still gets a lot of love till this day. Ghetto Love went on to sell over a million records.
