Welcome to the final week of the month of January. The year is already going by fast as it feels like we just celebrated the year 2026. My Throwback Thursday track is from the legendary Slick Rick and his Teenage Love record. Slick Rick released his first album called The Adventures of Slick Rick back in 1988. Many of you may not know, but 1988 is called the original Golden Age of Hip Hop. The Adventures of Slick Rick was one of those albums that ushered in the era. Teenage Love was Slick Rick’s first single and the classic Children’s Story was the second. My playlist consisted of Prodigy’s HNIC joint, the new albums from the Clipse and Slick Rick. Gucci Mane Trap God, a slow jams mixtape and Makaveli 7 also made my list. DaBaby’s album, Be More Grateful drops Friday after being pushed back from January 16th.
There’s a lot going on in the world today. The issues in Minnesota dominated the news after ICE murdered Alex Pretti. The sale of TikTok also dominated the news and being a user it’s not the same. The wintry weather throughout the United States this past weekend was also another major news maker. We got quite a bit of ice in our area but didn’t lose power. Derrick Rose had his jersey retired by the Chicago Bulls. The Super Bowl is set in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks taking on the New England Patriots. My prediction was correct having these two teams play in Super Bowl LX. Check out the video for Teenage Love above.
