Welcome to the middle of January as there has been a lot going on. In the world, we are still with a lot of chaos with ICE terrorizing American citizens. Let’s get away from that and focus on other things taking place over the last week. The week started with the Atlanta Hawks trading Trae Young to the Washington Wizards. The writing was on the wall when the Hawks played better when Young was out due to an injury. Anthony Davis has been the topic of trade rumors, but there could be a halt to that. Davis injured his hand but won’t need surgery and could miss up to six weeks. We are a few days away from the college football national championship game between Miami and Indiana. The Hoosiers are big favorites as they look to take home their first championship in school history.
There’s a lot going on in the NFL as we head to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. In the AFC, the Buffalo Bills head to Denver to take on the Broncos. In the other game, the Houston Texans travel to New England to meet the Patriots. The Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers in the first NFC game. The second one will see the Chicago Bears host the Los Angeles Rams. The Niners will be without George Kittle after he tore his Achilles in the game in Philadelphia. The coaching carousel continues to turn after Mike Tomlin stepped down as the Steelers coach after their playoff loss. In the music world, there’s not a lot going on except DaBaby dropping his new album tomorrow. My playlist this week consisted of a few mixtapes and new Big K.R.I.T. joint.
Jadakiss Kiss of Death, Mya’s debut album and Shaq’s first album were played also. We are going to turn our attention to Jermaine Dupri and his Life in 1472 album. Jermaine Dupri is known for producing and discovering talent, but he did an album also. Life in 1472 was the name of it and it dropped in July of 1998. Nas, Jay-Z, DMX, Slick Rick, Mariah Carey, Usher, Da Brat, and many others made appearances. Money Ain’t a Thang was one of the biggest records from the album and it featured Jay-Z. Money Ain’t a Thang was the second single from the Life in 1472 album. The record also appears as a bonus track on his album Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life. The record opened a lot of eyes in the south to Jay-Z, and this is my featured Throwback Thursday track.
