2Pac Until the End of Time Turns 25 Years Old

2Pac is considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. 2Pac was gunned down on September 7, 1996, and he passed away on September 13th. Despite being gone for almost 30 years, Pac is as popular as ever. Over the years, many artists have listed him as their inspiration and their favorite artist. He began his career as a roadie for Digital Underground before releasing his studio debut album. 2Pacalypse Now was the name of the album and he was only 20 years old at the time of its release. The album would almost reach platinum status off the strength of Brenda’s Got a Baby. A little over a year later, he returned with his sophomore album called Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. The controversial album almost went to double platinum, and it produced more classic records. Keep Ya Head Up and I Get Around are classic hip hop records.

While prepping his album and working on the Above the Rim movie, 2Pac put attention on his Thug Life group. Thug Life released their album, and it was called Volume 1, and it’s considered a good project. Syke revealed that Thug Life was never supposed to be a group, it was supposed to be a movement. It was supposed to be a compilation album represented by more rappers than what appeared on the album, one rapper being The Notorious B.I.G. At the end of 1994, Pac was shot and sent to prison but that didn’t stop the release of Me Against the World. Me Against the World was his third solo project and it’s my favorite album of all time. The album went number one while he was locked up and fell short of selling four million copies.

Less than a year later, 2Pac was released from prison and he dropped his fourth album. All Eyez on Me was the name and it was his first album on Death Row Records. All Eyez on Me became an iconic album and sold over eleven million copies. Unfortunately, 2Pac passed away before the release of his Makaveli The Don Killuminati: The 7-Day Theory album. Makaveli was released less than two months after he passed away. It would be one of many projects from 2Pac released posthumously. Almost a year later, another 2Pac album would be released and it was another double album. R U Still Down? Remember Me was the name and it was released under Amaru Entertainment. Amaru Entertainment was Afeni’s label, which was 2Pac’s middle name. The album features almost all previously unreleased material, all of which was recorded between 1992 and 1994.

The albums from 2Pac kept rolling out with his Greatest Hits double album that was released the following year. 2Pac Greatest Hits sold well over ten million copies. A year later, 2Pac released another album and it was with the Outlawz. Still I Rise from 2Pac & the Outlawz was another dope record, and it went double platinum in the process. It was mentioned that 2Pac recorded a lot of material before his death. A little over a year later, 2Pac returned with his seventh studio and third posthumous album, Until the End of Time. Until the End of Time turns 25 years old today and it was another amazing Pac record. The album consists of material recorded while the rapper was on Death Row Records from 1995 to 1996. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 426,870 copies in its first week.

The album was certified quadruple platinum by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Highly anticipated, Until the End of Time was ultimately one of the bestselling hip hop albums of 2001. The title track, Until the End of Time was the first official single released from the album. The song features R.L. Huggar from the R&B group Next. The album contains two different versions for Until the End of Time. The final single was another favorite track from the album, and it’s called Letter 2 My Unborn. Until the End of Time was another great album from 2Pac. Since this is a double album, I’ll post my favorite tracks from both discs. After that, check out the track listing and stream link for Until the End of Time.
