Where Could A.J. Brown Be Traded?

Where Could A.J. Brown Be Traded?

I’m a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan and have been since the mid-1980s. Randall Cunningham is the reason that I’m a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Seeing the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2018 and 2024 were some of my favorite moments ever. Coming off their Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs, this past season was full of turmoil. Most of it was surrounded by A.J. Brown and his unhappiness with how he was being used. The Eagles offense finally made him a focal point, but it wasn’t enough. The future of A.J. Brown has been a topic of conversation. The rumors surrounding Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown continue to heat up as the 2026 NFL offseason moves toward training camp. While no deal has been finalized, multiple NFL insiders and reports suggest the Eagles are at least listening to offers for one of the league’s most dominant receivers.

Brown remains one of the NFL’s elite pass catchers after posting another 1,000-yard season in 2025. However, questions about Philadelphia’s offensive direction, salary cap flexibility, and Brown’s long-term fit have fueled speculation that a blockbuster trade could happen after June 1.

New England Patriots Lead the Rumor Mill

The most frequently mentioned landing spot is the New England Patriots. Reports from ESPN insiders and league analysts continue to connect Brown with a reunion alongside former Titans coach Mike Vrabel.

New England desperately needs a true No. 1 receiver for young quarterback Drake Maye, and Brown would instantly transform the Patriots offense. The Patriots also possess the salary cap flexibility and draft assets needed to complete a major deal.

A potential package could include:

  • A future first-round pick
  • Additional mid-round draft compensation
  • A young offensive player

For Brown, the Patriots offer familiarity, opportunity, and the chance to become the centerpiece of an emerging offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars Emerging as a Surprise Team

The Jacksonville Jaguars have also surfaced as a possible destination.

Pairing Brown with Trevor Lawrence would give Jacksonville one of the AFC’s most dangerous passing attacks. The Jaguars have been searching for a physical, dominant receiver capable of winning contested catches and stretching defenses vertically.

If Jacksonville enters serious negotiations, the Eagles could target:

  • Young defensive talent
  • High draft picks
  • Offensive line depth

The Jaguars have enough cap flexibility to absorb Brown’s contract, making them a realistic dark horse candidate.

Kansas City Could Make a Blockbuster Move

Another intriguing possibility is the Kansas City Chiefs.

With uncertainty surrounding parts of Kansas City’s receiver room, adding Brown would give Patrick Mahomes another elite weapon and potentially create the league’s most explosive offense.

The challenge would be financial. Brown’s contract would require careful cap maneuvering, but the Chiefs have shown repeatedly that they are willing to make aggressive moves to maximize their championship window.

A Brown-Mahomes connection would instantly reshape the AFC playoff picture.

Rams Appear Out of the Race

At one point, the Los Angeles Rams were viewed as a serious contender. However, recent reports indicate Los Angeles has backed away from trade discussions.

With Davante Adams and Puka Nacua already in place, the Rams appear more focused on preserving future draft capital rather than making another splash move.

Why the Eagles Might Trade Him

Philadelphia’s motivation comes down to several factors:

  • Long-term salary cap management
  • Offensive restructuring
  • Depth at receiver
  • Future draft flexibility

Reports also suggest the Eagles prepared for the possibility of Brown’s departure by adding receivers during the offseason and the draft process.

Trading Brown after June 1 would also significantly reduce the Eagles’ cap hit compared to an earlier offseason move.

Prediction

Right now, the New England Patriots remain the most likely destination if a trade happens. The fit makes sense financially, strategically, and personally for Brown.

Still, until a deal becomes official, teams like the Jaguars and Chiefs could remain aggressive contenders in what would become one of the biggest trades of the NFL offseason.
