Matthew Stafford Sign 1-Year Extension with Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are keeping their franchise quarterback in Hollywood a little longer.

According to multiple reports, Matthew Stafford has agreed to a one-year contract extension worth $55 million that keeps him with the Rams through the 2027 season. The deal could reportedly reach as much as $60 million with incentives.

The extension puts an end to months of speculation surrounding Stafford’s future in Los Angeles. After winning NFL MVP honors during the 2025 season and leading the Rams back into Super Bowl contention, the organization made it clear they still believe Stafford gives them the best chance to compete for another championship.

Even at 38 years old, Stafford continues to play at an elite level. Last season, he threw for 4,707 yards and a league-leading 46 touchdown passes while guiding the Rams to another deep playoff run. His chemistry with stars like Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams helped power one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses.

The move also sends a strong message from head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead: the Rams are still in win-now mode. While the team recently drafted quarterback Ty Simpson as a possible future successor, this extension confirms Stafford remains firmly in control of the offense for the foreseeable future.

Since arriving in Los Angeles in 2021, Stafford has transformed the Rams franchise. He helped deliver a Super Bowl title in his first season with the team and has continued to prove he can thrive in McVay’s aggressive offensive system.

For Rams fans, the message is simple: the championship window is still open, and Matthew Stafford is still the man leading the charge.
