Scarface Hand of the Dead Body for Throwback Thursday

Last week, we went to feature Donell Jones and his classic track, Where I Wanna Be. This week I’ll be featuring one of my favorite rappers of all time. Scarface has been referred as one of the greatest rappers of all time. The Source ranked him as one of the Top 50 Lyricists of All Time. Scarface began his career as a member of the legendary Geto Boys. The first Geto Boys album he appeared on was the group’s second album, Grip It! On That Other Level. In 1991, the Geto Boys released their third overall album called We Can’t Be Stopped. We Can’t Be Stopped was successful and it went platinum and Scarface would release his first solo joint later. Mr. Scarface is Back the name of the album and it was well-received and went gold in the process.

The following year, Scarface returned with a new album with the Geto Boys called Uncut Dope. It was a compilation album along with a couple new tracks. In March of 1993, the Geto Boys released my favorite album from the group called Till Death Do Us Part. Willie D left the group and was replaced with Big Mike. Big Mike was already on Rap-A-Lot Records and the album was amazing. Scarface would release his second solo album a few months later called The World is Yours. Till Death Do Us Part from the Geto Boys and The World is Yours from Scarface went gold. A little over a year later, Scarface would return with his third album called The Diary. This album is one of the few to receive a perfect rating from both The Source and XXL. The Diary debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

I Seen a Man Die was the first single from the album and it was a classic record. I Seen a Man Die” became a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Hand of the Dead Body was the second and final single from the Diary album. Hand of the Dead Body features Ice Cube and Devin the Dude. Scarface and Ice Cube on a track together was anticipated. Hand of the Dead Body didn’t disappoint at all and one of the many classics on this album. Hand of the Dead is my featured Throwback Thursday track of the week. Check out the video above for Hand of the Dead Body. You can check out the track listing and stream link for The Diary below. Wale Ambition, Blood Money from Mobb Deep, and The Cool from Lupe Fiasco also made my playlist this week.
