We have looked into the AFC East and now it’s time to head north. The AFC North has traditionally been one of the toughest and most physical divisions in the NFL, and the 2026 season shouldn’t be any different.

The Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns all enter the season facing different expectations. Baltimore wants to bounce back from a disappointing 2025 campaign, Cincinnati is trying to maximize the prime years of Joe Burrow, Pittsburgh hopes to defend its AFC North crown, and Cleveland is searching for stability at quarterback. The AFC North possess two of my top 5 AFC teams heading into the 2026 season.

This could be one of those divisions where the difference between first and third place isn’t very large.

Here are my AFC North predictions heading into the 2026 NFL season.

1. Baltimore Ravens — Prediction: 12-5

I’m picking the Baltimore Ravens to win the AFC North.

Baltimore went just 8-9 last season after falling into a 1-5 hole, but there is too much talent on this roster for me to expect another losing season. The Ravens enter 2026 with a new coaching staff led by Jesse Minter, while Lamar Jackson and the offense are adjusting to a new system.

Everything starts with Jackson. To help out Lamar, they extended Zay Flowers, his number one target.

When healthy and playing at his best, Lamar remains one of the NFL’s most difficult quarterbacks to defend. His combination of passing ability and athleticism forces defenses to prepare for things they simply don’t see against most teams.

The challenge will be adjusting to the changes around him.

A new coaching staff can create some growing pains, particularly early in the season. However, Baltimore has enough talent to overcome them.

There are already some intriguing developments offensively. Rashod Bateman has discussed being used in different ways within the Ravens’ new offense, which could give Jackson another versatile option in the passing game.

If Baltimore gets off to a better start than it did last season, I think the Ravens have the highest ceiling in the division. They also added Trey Hendrickson on defense and awarded him a massive 4-year extension.

2. Cincinnati Bengals — Prediction: 11-6

The Bengals are right behind Baltimore.

As long as Joe Burrow is healthy, Cincinnati has a chance to beat anybody.

Burrow’s ability to take over games makes the Bengals dangerous regardless of their opponent. Pair him with Ja’Marr Chase and Cincinnati has the foundation for one of the NFL’s most explosive passing attacks.

Reports from training camp have shown Burrow’s competitive side coming out as Cincinnati prepares for the season, while there is also growing optimism surrounding the Bengals’ defense.

That defense could determine Cincinnati’s ceiling. The defense has always been the issue, but they addressed that this offseason. Cincinnati traded for Dexter Lawrence II and that immediately

We already know what Burrow and the offense can do. If the defense becomes even an above-average unit, the Bengals could go from fighting for a playoff spot to competing for one of the AFC’s top seeds.

I have Cincinnati finishing one game behind Baltimore, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bengals win the division.

Their head-to-head matchups against the Ravens could ultimately decide the AFC North.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers — Prediction: 9-8

Picking Pittsburgh third isn’t easy considering the Steelers are the defending AFC North champions.

But repeating in this division won’t be simple.

Baltimore should be better than it was in 2025, and Cincinnati remains extremely dangerous with Burrow at quarterback. That means Pittsburgh could still have a respectable season and finish third. Does Aaron Rodgers still have magic left in him? Pittsburgh added a legit number two receiver in Michael Pittman Jr. The Steelers also signed Rico Dowdle to a two-year deal.

The Steelers’ defense should keep them competitive.

Pittsburgh traditionally finds ways to win close games, especially when its defense can create turnovers and put the offense in favorable situations.

The question is whether the Steelers can produce enough offense to keep pace with Baltimore and Cincinnati over a full 17-game schedule.

There are projections entering the preseason that are considerably more pessimistic about Pittsburgh, including predictions that the Steelers could suffer their first losing season since 2003.

I’m not going quite that far.

I have Pittsburgh finishing 9-8 and remaining in the wild-card conversation late in the season. But unless the offense exceeds expectations, I think the Ravens and Bengals have higher ceilings. Pittsburgh traded in Mike Tomlin for Mike McCarthy, can they maintain that same success?

4. Cleveland Browns — Prediction: 6-11

The Cleveland Browns enter 2026 as the biggest mystery in the AFC North.

The biggest reason is quarterback.

Cleveland has been working through a quarterback situation involving Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson, with both expected to receive preseason starting opportunities.

Until the Browns establish consistent quarterback play, it’s difficult for me to put them ahead of the other three teams in this division.

Cleveland is also working to build chemistry along a revamped offensive line. That unit has spent the offseason and training camp learning how to play together, something that will be critical regardless of who starts at quarterback.

There is still talent on Cleveland’s roster, and the Browns’ defense could keep them competitive in plenty of games. The Browns are building for the future after trading Myles Garrett to the Rams for Jared Verse and draft picks.

But competing in a division featuring Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and the defending division champion Steelers leaves very little margin for error.

Six victories feels like a realistic expectation, although Cleveland could outperform that prediction if it finally finds a long-term answer at quarterback.

Who Wins the AFC North?

My pick is the Baltimore Ravens.

Baltimore’s 8-9 record last season was disappointing, but I’m expecting a significant bounce-back season.

The biggest reason is Lamar Jackson.

When Jackson is healthy, Baltimore has one of the highest ceilings in football. Combine that with a talented roster and a fresh coaching approach under Jesse Minter, and the Ravens have everything needed to return to the playoffs.

Cincinnati will make it extremely difficult.

In fact, I expect the AFC North race to remain close throughout the season, with Baltimore and Cincinnati potentially battling for the division into December.

Pittsburgh shouldn’t be overlooked after winning the division last season, but I’m expecting some regression as Baltimore improves. Cleveland remains the biggest question mark and could spend 2026 figuring out its future at quarterback.

My final prediction is Baltimore finishing 12-5 and reclaiming the AFC North, with Cincinnati grabbing a wild-card spot at 11-6.
